Sleep is a wonderful thing

I don’t think I’ve truly appreciated sleep before. In the past I compromised an hour here and there to go out, to catch up on errands, and let my busy life take over. On occasion, I’d “sleep in”. I’ve always had a hard time falling asleep, but once asleep I’d stay asleep.

That is until I messed up my circadian rhythm. I barely sleep these days. I’ll wake up every hour or not be able to sleep for days. I definitely took sleep for granted before; these days I just desire to have five hours of uninterrupted sleep. I have tried melatonin, essential oils, and relaxation melodies.    Suggestions are truly appreciated!

I truly admire the people who have been doing this for years. I’ve only been doing this “night shift” thing for a few months now and it has given me knew insight.  I never fully understood the sacrifice; it takes a toll on your body and mind. Some people choose to work nights and others don’t have the luxury of choosing a “9-5” schedule.  Either way, I would encourage you today to thank someone you know who is working crazy hours, holidays, and weekends for the sacrifice they are making.

As for me, I will try to catch some Zzzz

  1. Insomnia is the worst! 😩 I hope that you’ll be able to get into a more consistent sleep pattern again soon – it took me awhile to get back into one myself, but things can get better! Hang in there. 💛

Till then I will day dream about my bed 🙂
But definitely it’s my work schedule which is all over the place too which doesn’t help. I’m praying God is not only teaching me lessons through this but that it is taking me somewhere.

      1. That is a God-honoring prayer that I trust He will answer in time. I hope that your work schedule evens out soon!
