I’m not sure how I ended up here. Maybe it was fate. Some believe that we are lead to our destinations, others would call it a coincidence. Regardless, here I was.
I just finished up meeting with a friend. I was heading home when I decided to make a pit stop. I’m not sure prompted to me pull over or go inside. But I did. I don’t know why I was here. Something inside of me just pushed me forward.
She was dressed in gray and had shiny blonde hair. She was covered in tattoos of various images. The awkward silence ended as she looked over at me and said, “you have really beautiful skin”. Before I knew it, we were talking and laughing. It was good to laugh in the midst of all the challenges I was confronted with lately. I hadn’t really laughed in a long time. But she shared with me her story; the broken childhood, the aching of her heart, the reasons that brought her to this place, and the hope of grace embedded deep within her.
Before we departed ways, she spoke some words in Hebrew. They sounded so beautiful, so pleasing to the ear. I’ve not heard much Hebrew in the past. “Read your Bible”, she said then in English, “it has all the answers you’re looking for.” And with those words, she disappeared into the night.
