The Art of Dating Myself

Friday nights can be lonely sometimes. Not that there’s much going on. No fancy dinners or bouquets of luscious red roses.

But in all efforts to make the most of this life, I decided to take myself to see a movie. I’ve always heard people say they could never sit in a theatre alone. Not me. There’s no shame in enjoying my days.

I walked in, by myself. Sat alone. Got some awkward stares.

God gave us just one life, just one today. Tomorrow will never come back. As I sit here and think about how I wish I wasn’t single, the reality is – right now I am. Maybe there will be a Friday night that doesn’t seem so lonely.

Right now, right here, I want to make the most of this life whether I am with someone or not.
