My Best Friend’s Wedding
This past weekend was full. Full of partying and after parties. Full of eating Pakistani and Egyptian food. Filled with dancing and laughing. I was surrounded with new faces, people from across the United States and throughout the world. It was my best friend’s wedding. We talked about this day since we were 15, and 15 years later there I was-watching her walk through the doors as they announce the newly weds.
All eyes are directed towards the bride as she walks in her beautiful dress. Her face glowing and a smile stretching from cheek to cheek as she looks ahead. How did time just pass by us? It feels like just yesterday we graduated high school and we started talking about the future. When did the future get here?
I recall our never ending conversations and all the things we aspired out of life. Through the glass stained eyes, as I watched you walk toward all you prayed for, a tear fell so quickly. It was subtle, but I felt the joy of my heart melt with gladness. I love you my dearest Shazia. And I hope you warned Sam that our conversations can be over 2 hours because neither one of can stop talking,..poor guy!
Congratulations Shazia and Sameh!!
